Intellectual Property Office, the University of Tokushima

This is the website of Intellectual Property Office, the University of Tokushima.
The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) was established in September 2003 to promote the Industry-Academia-Government collaboration. The purpose of IPO is to promote the cooperative research projects and to manage the intellectual property like patent. The office provides joint research and technical information to the researcher of the university and the engineer of the private company. The office not only seeks to promote joint research between the university and regional industries, but also encourages “campus incubation” to promote the transfer of technology to industry.

The mission of this department provides you a one-stop service
for industry-academia collaboration.
Specifically, activities promoting industry-academia collaboration, evaluation of a result of research, patent application, technology transfer activities, and the promotion and support of research projects.

Five Functions of Our One-stop Service


>Technological Consultation
When there is such request of advice from enterprises, etc., faculty member is given the task of consulting, depending on the type of advice being requested. These consultants handle a wide range of duties, leading to joint researches, patent applications, and acceptance of donations for researches.

>Seminars and Workshops
Research results are released to small and medium business owners, researchers, etc., through a seminar format to promote technology transfer. We sponsor various conferences and meetings for research exchange.

>Collection and Dissemination of Information on Technology Seeds
Information on research and technological seeds produced by the researchers of the University of Tokushima are published.

>Dissemination of Technology Information through the Internet
This department and Shikoku technology licensing organization (Techno Network Shikoku Ltd.) provide research information through the internet to help provide matches for corporate needs.

>Supporting for University Ventures
We founded a kind of human resource agency about industry-academia collaboration “the Venture Platform of the Univ. of Tokushima” in July 2003. Through the member of the venture platform, we provide consultations for students and professors that are planning to start a business. We promote matching with banks, venture capitals, etc.

Venture Business Laboratory:
Support of technological development of venture business, etc


Branch office

Purpose:
Forming footholds close to head offices of enterprises for technology transfer and technological consultation.

Joint project

Joint research is classified into three types according to its scale.

Type A: The private sector dispatches cooperative researcher and pays more than two million yen for the joint research. National university also pays a part of the research expense.

Type B: The private sector dispatches cooperative researcher and pays the contracted amount of money for the joint research.

Type C: The private sector dispatches cooperative researcher for the joint research.

The private sector pays 420,000 yen in order to dispatch each cooperative researcher in all types of joint research.
